Listening is the most important skill in music, and this app will help you to listen better.

Ear Trainer Lite is an educational tool designed for musicians, music students and anyone interested in improving ones musical ear. It has exercises covering intervals, chords, and scales. This is the LITE version with 32 exercises. The full version has over 260 exercises and the ability to create custom exercises.

Ear Trainer Lite covers the following categories:

- Interval Comparison (18 exercises)
- Chord Identification (3 exercises)
- Chord Progressions (3 exercises)
- Scales (4 exercises)
- Melody (4 exercises)

Each exercise has a short description of its purpose and optional preview. A virtual piano keyboard in each exercise helps you visually understand and analyze the notes that have been played. To aid your progression you can compare the different options after answering. (You can even play the virtual piano if you like!)

As you progress through the exercises, statistics are collected so that you can see your progress.

The questions in the exercises are randomly generated so you can do them over and over again as many times as you like to continue to hone your skills.

Pros and cons of Ear Trainer Lite app for iPhone and iPad

Ear Trainer Lite app good for

A design overhaul, a bunch of new exercises, plus the transfer of progress data went off without a hitch. As already said: Great update.
Works well, fairly good designed in comparison with a lot of the other apps. The free version provides already a lot of useful exercises
...you have to get the real version to access all of the features
Perfect to get started on ear training. You will notice the shortcomings once you advance, but only because youve reaped the benefits of this app.
Great tool, straight forward to use. Helps a lot to improve my ear. Great for all ages.
Pretty good app, definitely helped me with basic ear training. Wished they had more interval trAining that didnt start with a common note

Some bad moments

It only prompts you to identify major vs minor versions of chords/intervals, which is not challenging or practical.
Nice way to train your ear musically. Can also work for vocalists and really anyone learning any instrument. Another app where the exercises really do help you improve your understanding of music theory and practice. Not sure if I want to spend the full 7 bux for upgrade, seems steep to me
After realizing I had way too many games on my iPhone, with nothing to really gain from wasting my time on them, I decided to search for a music application. This is a great tool for those who want to gain an understanding of music from more of a theoretical standpoint- something that isnt easily found just by playing a relatives six string that isnt tuned properly. Definitely worth checking out.
A great app. I tried several "ear trainers" and none compared to Ear Trainer.
Great program. Its like a game but I get personal benefit from it. I have already noticed my ear getting better.
I like this game a lot!! Dont know how much it helps, but its fun to play.
